Lesson 3: Learned Behaviors
Introduction: Learned behaviors are things you are taught or learn from experience. Behaviors are influenced by the environments in which you mature. The people we meet affect our life and the successes and downfalls we experience help create who we are.
Objectives: Students will know

Technology Integrations:
Students will use the internet to read from their textbook and to view a Brainpop video. They will use Word to make a document for definitions and a flash drive to save information. They will use wordle.net to create a genetic description of themselves and glogster.com to create a digital poster.

Procedure:
Day 1
1.Teacher will show a video from Brainpop on Behavior. (Brainpop is password protected. If you do not have a password you can do a free trial.)
2. Students will take the quiz at the end of the brain pop, print it, and turn it in for a grade.
3. Students will read pages 344 – 345 in the online textbook.
4. Students will copy the definition for learned behavior on page 339 in the online textbook to a words documents titled ‘Definitions' and save it to their flash drive.
5. Students will play learned behavior charades.
6. Students will use wordle.net to list their name, five inherited traits , and five learned behaviors.
7. Students will print and turn in what they created with wordle.net. It will be graded with a rubric.
Day 2 (Culminating activity) Who Am I? poster
1.Students will bring pictures from home to be scanned and saved on the student’s flash drive by the teacher.
2. Student will create a digital poster using glogster.com that will contain a title, student’s name, at least 4 pictures, captions that tell what inherited traits or learned behaviors the pictures are showing. (Teacher should already have an account for students)
3. Teacher will monitor student’s progress and guide students.
4. Students will use Word and write a brief description of what they have learned from this unit. Student should include at least one thing from the unit they feel was well presented and one thing from the unit that could have been better . Students should save the document to their flash drive.

Modifications
Provide preferential seating , provide textbooks with varied reading levels, or allow students that do not have photographs to hand draw pictures. Students could also work in small groups of 2-3 where learning levels will be mixed.
